Santa Clara University invites applications for the Executive Director of the Bannan Center for Jesuit Education. This position carries with it a joint appointment in the appropriate academic department. The position may be filled as early as January 2005 and no later than September 2005. The application deadline is November 15, but the search committee will review completed applications as they are submitted and continue until the position is filled.
The Executive Director provides direction and leadership for the Center, supervises a staff that organizes and conducts educational programs and activities that advance its mission, consults with a Steering Committee, manages a budget in excess of $500,000, and obtains funding through gifts, grants, and fee-for-service programs to supplement the Center’s endowment income.
The ideal candidate will be a recognized scholar with a demonstrated interest in the Ignatian tradition, who qualifies for a tenured faculty appointment in an academic discipline represented at Santa Clara University. The ideal candidate should also have relevant administrative experience and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a broad range of constituencies. Salary and benefits are competitive.
The Bannan Center was established in 1996 to enhance the University’s Catholic and Jesuit character through the exploration of the Ignatian vision, the educational and spiritual legacy of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. The center offers faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends opportunities—through grants, retreats, immersion experiences, community-based learning, lectures, workshops, conferences, visiting scholars, and its publication, explore—to understand and extend Santa Clara’s Catholic and Jesuit tradition and mission into the ongoing life of the contemporary university.
