Associate Dean of Student Development - Division of University Life

General Scope Of Position:
Reporting directly to the Vice President for University Life, the Associate Dean for Student Development oversees and coordinates the efforts of Multicultural Student Services, Student Activities, International Student Services, Health Promotion and Services, and Career Services. The Associate Dean provides a comprehensive vision for student engagement and development and provides expertise in creating a student experience focused on leadership, cultural competency, and social justice.

As a designated member of the Core Team in University Life is accountable for:
… Providing leadership for the Division by defining and implementing a shared mission, vision and set of operational values for University Life
… Manifesting the Mission, Vision and Values of the University
… Advancing the University's Strategic Priorities through establishing and animating Divisional Strategic Priorities
… Staying centered on and present to students and developing Divisional leadership to do the same
As part of the larger staff in University Life, the Associate Dean for Student Development collaborates and cooperates across divisions and departments to create a supportive University community which encourages student learning and development in the Jesuit Catholic tradition and commits to:

Essential Job Responsibilities :
- Lead and supervise the Director of Career Services, Director of Health Promotion and Services, Assistant Dean of Multicultural Student Services, Director of International Student Services, and Director of Student Activities. Particular emphasis in serving underrepresented students and fostering a divisional and university climate that values all aspects of a diverse learning community.
- Provide leadership and oversight for orientation programs with Academic Services and the various Colleges and Schools.
- Responsible for the inclusion of values related to multiculturalism and student leadership through the development of intentional programs such as Creating Community, ASUSF leadership training, and service learning.
- Serve as a resource and support the Dean of Students in the Division's response to crisis response/emergency situations. Share off-hours on-call responsibilities with Dean and Assistant Dean of Students.
- Oversee the appointment process of (a) all students serving on University-wide committees and (b) faculty and staff serving on University Life committees.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Students in the design of intentional services and programs to assure student success and retention efforts.
- Represent the Division at university events related to orientation, admissions, student programs, alumni and athletic events.
- Create learning outcomes and an assessment plan for supervised units and student development programs.
- Participate on or chair committees, task forces, and boards as requested by the Vice President.
- Prepare and respond to correspondence and inquiries on behalf of the Vice President and represent the Vice President or the Dean of Students in their absence.

Other Job Responsibilities :
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements :
Master's Degree required, earned Doctorate preferred, in higher education administration, college student services administration or related field. Understanding of USF's Vision Mission and Values and a commitment to Jesuit Catholic values in creating a learning atmosphere that nurtures among students the faith that does justice. Mminimum of 5 years of significant supervisory experience in student services. Experience working effectively with diverse college student populations in an urban, multicultural environment. Solid analytical skills and knowledge of current assessment and evaluation practices. Strong interpersonal skills to provide direction in promoting and maintaining collaborative relationships with campus constituencies.
